Hatch Green Chiles and Cheddar Cheese Bread is a delicious and savory bread that combines the smoky flavor of roasted green chiles with the richness of cheddar cheese. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started:
7+ cups all purpose flour
2 Tbsp sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp butter room temperature
2 cups milk lukewarm
4 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast or 2 (1/4 oz) packages
3 cups Roasted green chile peeled and chopped
2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cups of warm water. Add milk, butter, salt and sugar. Stir until well blended
Add the green chile and cheese, mix until well blended. Sprinkle 3 cups of flour into this mixture and using a dough hook (or a large spoon) mix until well blended.
Add remaining flour to make a soft dough. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise for 1 1/2 hours.
Remove from bowl. Place in two greased loaf pans
Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes
Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes.
